Topolovets is a village in the municipality of Ruzhintsi, Vidin region.
In Bulgaria there is another village which has the same name - in Kula municipality, Vidin region.
It is located about 18 km southwest of the village Ruzhintsi, about 44 km northeast of Vidin, 30 km in the same direction from Montana, about 25 km northeast of Lom and about 150 km north of Sofia.
It is situated in the Danube valley, on the riverside of Lom, at an altitude of about 100 m. The climate here is characterized by hot summers but cold winters.
The population numbers about 300 people. The village has regular bus and railway transport.
In Topolovets the power and water supply systems are fully developed. There is range of all mobile operators, satellite and digital TV are available. There are city- hall, post office, gas station, three grocery stores, pubs, kindergarten and health services. Nearest school is located 2 km away in Drenovets village, in town of Lom in situated a hospital for active treatment.
Nearby are dams Drenovets and Hristo Smirnenski, which together with the Lom River offer excellent fishing conditions.
Belogradchik Rocks are rock formations located about 15 km away in the town of Belogradchik. They are part of the Bulgarian hundred travel sites.
Near the city of Dimovo, about 40 km from the villageof Topolovets, is located Izvorski monastery.
