The village of Tintyava

Tintyava is a village situated in Southern Bulgaria. It is part of Krumovgrad Municipality, Kardzhali region.

The village is located 26 km south-east ot the town of Krumovgrad and respectively 74 and 315 km of the town of Kardzhali and the capital Sofia city. The neighbouring village of Chernichevo is situated 12 km in the south.

The village is situated in the southern part of the Eastern Rhodopes. The relief of the region is hilly. The sea altitude is 490 m. The climate is influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. Summer is long and hot, winter - mild.

The population of the village is about 20 people.

The village of Tintyava is relatively well-developed. There are water supply and electricity systems. The nearest church, mosque, post office and community centre are in the village of Chernichevo. Medical assistance can be obtained by the GP in the village of Avren /20 km south-west of Tintyava/. The nearest elementary school is again there. General hospital and secondary school one can find in Krumovgrad.

Tintyava has good transport links. It is located only 19 km from the national border with Greece. The international transport corridor No 9 Kardzhali-Makaza-Alexondropolis passes nearby.

Tobacco is the main crop which provides the livelihood of the population. Stock-breeding is well developed too.

LANDMARKS AND TOURISM

In the neighbourin village of Chernichevo a regular village fair is held annualy around 21st August. The fair gathers people from the whole region.

The White River passes near the village. It is the first eco zone announced from the ecological net 'NATURA 2000' in the Eastern Rhodopes. Pure water and white stones characterize the river. There are significant natural phenomena along the river called 'Meanders of The White River'.

Another wonderful place to visit, again next to the village of Chernichevo, is Likoto vrizche /The Healing spring/. By tradition, people from the region attend the spring on the day of Virgin Mary's Assumption and light candles in honour of God's mother.

Next to the village of Siniger /8 km in the south-west/ are located two micro-dams suitable for fishing and one surveillance point for shooting big game.
