Strupets is a village in southeastern Bulgaria. It is located in Sliven Municipality, Sliven region.
In Bulgaria there is another village with the same name in Roman Municipality, Vratsa region.
It is about 25 km southwest from the town of Sliven, about 29 km northeast from the town of Nova Zagora, 130 km northwest from the town of Burgas, 302 km east from the city of Sofia. Gavrailovo village is located 10 km northeast.
There is regular bus transport.
It is situated in the northern part of Surnena forest at 200 m altitude. The climate is temperate - continental. Winters are mild and summers are hot. Autumn is longer than spring.
The permanent population is about 330 people.
The village has a community center, shop and café. There is cable TV, Internet and mobile phone coverage. In the village of Gavrailovo you can find post office, school, kindergarten, two hospitals. The nearest hospital is in the town of Sliven.
Tourism and landmarks
On the road Gavrailovo - Byala you can reach to a dam in the area Elata with altitude 750 m. Near the dam are built shelters to be used both in summer and winter.
At about 12 km passes Tundzha river suitable place for entertainment, recreation and fishing.
14 km is located one of the largest spa complexes in the country, Sliven Mineral Baths.
In Sliven village guests can visit: church "St. Sofia", church "St. Mary", the History Museum, the Ethnographic Museum, the House - Museum Hadzhi Dimitar.
Area Karandila is located in the northeast part of Sliven. There is situated the National Park "Blue Rocks" with an area of 11,380 hectares, it has many interesting rock formations.
