village of Strezimirovtsi

Strezimirovtsi is a village in West Bulgaria. It is situated in Tran municipality, Pernik region.

It is 18 km southwest of the town of Tran and 64 km northwest of the town of Pernik. The capital Sofia is 94 km in east direction. Just to the village is the border checkpoint Strezimirovtsi.

It is located in mountain region and its alitude is about 830 m. The climate is with clearly expressed four seasons and the summer is warm but not hot while the winter is cool. The spring is cool with lots of precipitation and it comes in the beginning of March and the beginning of April, the fall is warmer.

The permanent population is about 46 people.

The nearest school and kindergarten work in the municipality and medical assistance you can get also medical assistance.

It is situated in the historical area Znepole and is named after the feudal lord Strezimir that ruled in Transko area and was among the comrades of Krakra Pernishki.

Tourism and landmarks

In proximity flows Erma river that is stocked with carp. The people that enjoy fishing can take advantage also from the favorable conditions near Yarlovtsi dam (6 km).

Among the landmarks in the area of the gorgeous of Erma River Gorge, Ruy peak, the rock church "St Petka", Tran monastery and Vrabcha waterfall.

Interesting landmark is "Museum exhibition of the Busintsi ceramics" Busintsi village which was opened in 1982. Together with the museum section and the exhibition halls there are also working studios and small hotel.
Now in the museum there are over 1300 pieces (jugs, jars, cups, bowls, casseroles, pots etc.) total of about a hundred different forms made by over a thousand craftsmen from the village and the region. Only in this museum you could see the so called "okanicheta" which are small jugs for wine and rakiya, the "crondir" which is unique kind of a jug with a hole in the middle. The museum is also keeping a hundred year old furnace that was used by the world famous craftsman Petar.
