Village of Strazha

Strazha is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Smolyan  Municipality, Smolyan region.
 
In Bulgaria there is another village with the same name in Targovishte Municipality, Targovishte region.
 
Situated 13 km northeast from the town of Smolyan and nearly 34 km from the town of Chepelare, 29 km from the ski-resort Pamporovo and 249 km from the city of Sofia southeast.
Regular bus service connects it with the surrounding towns and villages.
 
Located in the Rhodope Mountains at 1150 meters altitude. The climate is mountainous, with a strong influence of the Mediterranean. Winter is mild and snowy, summer is cool and moist, and the autumn - long and warm.

The permanent population is about 100 inhabitants.

The village has a town hall and shop. There is a range of mobile operators, cable TV and Internet. Nearest hospital, kindergarten and school are located in the town of Smolyan.

SIGHTS AND ATTRACTIONS
 
In the town of Smolyan guests of the village can visit: Smolyan History Museum - the oldest and largest in the Rhodope Mountains, Planetarium Smolyan, Rhodope Drama Theatre, church "St. Vissarion of Smolen", Monument of Orpheus and Eurydice, Observatory Rozhen.

Chepelare is interesting ethnographic and folklore reserve. There the ancient Rhodope architecture (Uzunski house and the house of Stoyu Shishkov) is preserved, there are magnificent churches. One is dedicated to St. Athanasius and was built in 1835.

Nearby is the most popular and biggest ski resort in Bulgaria - Pamporovo. At the resort you can find great hotels with all modern amenities and great service.
