Stikal is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Smolyan Municipality, Smolyan region.
It is 35 km northwest from the town of Smolyan, 20 km southwest from ski-resort Pamporovo in the same direction at 33 km from the town of Chepelare and 229 km southeast from the city of Sofia. Village of Shiroka laka is located near 10 km in the north-east direction.
There is a bus line to Stikal .
It is situated at the foot of Mount Turlata. The altitude is 1206 m. Winter is mild and snowy, summer is cool and wet, and the autumn - long and warm.
The permanent population is about 30 people.
The village is totally electrified. There is a town hall, community center, church "St. Nedelya", a shop and cafe. The nearest schools are in the village Shiroka laka, there's a health service, and the nearest hospital is in the city of Smolyan.
TOURISM
The village has a guest house with restaurant and all the necessary facilities and amenities for a vacation.
For lovers of hiking and mountain Stikal is a starting point for eco trail peak "Turlata", peak "Orpheus" and "Perelik".
Village of Stoikite / 16 km / is one of the first ski centers in the Rhodopes. Beginners in ski sports can choose - light track in center, equipped with a lift. The other track is the peak Black Peak to the area Enicharsko equipped with ski lift and ski.
In Smolyan village guests can visit: Smolyan History Museum - the oldest and largest in the Rhodope Mountains, Smolyan Planetarium, Rhodope Drama Theatre, "St. Vissarion", Monument of Orpheus and Eurydice, Rozhen Observatory.
