Sotirya is a village in Southeast Bulgaria. It is located in Sliven Municipality, Sliven Region.
The village is situated around 8 km east of the regional center Sliven, 106 km west of the town of Burgas and 308 km east of the capital Sofia. There is regular bus transport from Sliven.
Sotirya is located at an altitude of 294 m, at the foot of the park "Sinite kamani" ("The Blue Stones").
The climate is characterized with cool summer while winter is short and mild. Autumn usually is longer than spring. Strong winds are typical for the region.
The village is well developed - it has town hall, primary school and all-day kindergarten. The medical service is undertaken by 3 general practising doctors. The nearest general hospital is in the regional town Sliven.
Tourism
One of the main advantages of the village is the proximity of the park "Sinite kamani" and the locality "Karandila". The park is part of the Sliven Mountain which is part of the Balkan Range. The park is surrounded with large forests in the north, west and east. The terrain is very uneven. The lowest point of the park is located ar 300 m altitude and the highest is Bulgarka peak.
You can visit the picturesque Balkan villages of Medven, Zheravna and Ichera in the region. They are villages with old history and preserved traditions which are preferred locations for rural tourism and recreation for many Bulgarians and foreigners.
