Village of Ravnishta

Ravnishta is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Madan Municipality, Smolyan region.

It is about 9 km northwest from the town of Madan, about 23 km southeast from the town of Smolyan, in the same direction respectively 41 km from ski resort Pamporovo and 262 km from the capital Sofia.
Regular bus service connects it with the town of Smolyan.

Located in a mountainous area 643 meters above sea level. The climate is mountainous, with a strong influence of the Mediterranean. Winter is mild and snowy, summer is cool and humid and autumn - long and warm.

Its population is about 250 people.

The village has a town hall, shops and restaurants. There is a range of mobile operators, cable TV and Internet. In the neighboring village Srednogortsi / 3 km south / you will find a community center, a kindergarten, primary school, church monument "St. Ivan Rilski". There you can receive medical care from a doctor and a dentist. The nearest hospital is in the town of Smolyan.

Tourism and sightseeing

8 km from the village is located Momchilova fortress. At the top of the rocky peak in the territory of the fortress was studied Thracian rock sanctuary from the late Chalcolithic - V thousand years BC, when people develop the technique of copper processing.

In the town of Madan, please visit the following landmarks:

  • Cave Museum "Sharenka". This is the first in Bulgaria Cave Museum.
  • Area Gabata - rock with a small cave in whereh were found pottery pieces from different eras. Following the path in the rock massif leads to the Thracian mines, where were discovered primitive tools for the extraction of ore and clay lamps.
  • Nearby is the rock 'Rimpapa", 50 m high, resembling a man in a cloak. Behind it are the remains of an ancient village, where they found traces of clay pipe.
  • Area Kichikaya represents old Bulgarian fortress occupied later by the Romans. There are old stone walls of buildings and fortifications. Fully preserved is the well carved nine meters down the cliff.

In the town of Smolyan village guests can visit the Historic Museum Smolyan - the oldest and largest in the Rhodope Mountains, Smolyan Planetarium, Rhodope Drama Theatre, "St. Vissarion", Monument of Orpheus and Eurydice, Rozhen Observatory.
