Rakovo is a village in northeastern Bulgaria. It is located in Sliven Municipality, Sliven region.
In Bulgaria there is another village with the same name in Nevestino municipality, Kyustendil region.
It is located 26 km north from the town of Sliven, 36 km southwest from the town of Kotel, 331 km east from the city of Sofia.
The village has a regular bus service to and from Sliven.
Located in the Eastern Balkan Mountains 840 meters above sea level. Summers are cool and winters are relatively mild.
The permanent population is 70 people. The main occupation is logging, woodworking and cattle.
The village has a town hall, community center, church "St. Peter and Paul" shop. There is cable TV, Internet and mobile phone coverage.
The nearest kindergarten, school and hospital are located in the city of Sliven.
Tourism
River Luda Kamchia flows through the village in its upper course, there are opportunities for fishing and picnics.
Village of Zheravna is located 20 km. It is an architectural reserve, and each house is unique monument. 30 km away is located the picturesque mountain village of Medven. Known for its preserved Renaissance houses.
In the town of Kotel, which is declared an architectural and historical reserve, you can find more than 110 houses from the Renaissance.
The Natural Museum there is one of the largest in Bulgaria, and also the History museum has three exposures.
About 39 km is situated one of the largest spa complexes in Bulgaria, Sliven Mineral Baths. The resort is a popular place for family recreation and spa.
