Prosena is a village in the Central part of Northern Bulgaria. It is situated in Ruse Municipality, Ruse Region.
Regular bus transportation serves the village (Ruse-Nikolvo-Prosena-Dolno Ablanovo).
The settlement spreads out the eastern part of the Danube plain, on 52 m above the sea level. Plain relief and humid continental climate. Summer is hot and dry, and winter - cold.
Prosena is with population of about 630 people. It is provided with electricity, water and communication equipment. There is a town-hall, a post office, a community centre with a library, an orthodox church, a doctor and commercial areas.
The pupils attend the elementary school in the neighbouring village of Nikolovo (7 km).
In village of Nikolovo is located the forest park 'Lipnik' - preferred place for recreation during weekends. The park is convenient for pedestrian and bicycle tourism, water-wheeling and fishing. There is a small zoo park with bears, goats and birds.
About 40 km away is Rusenski Lom Natural Park, which is divided in three zones - recreation zone, historical zone and zone with special regime. The park is set in the canyon type valley of Rusenski Lom River, where rare plant and animal species could be seen.
