Preseka is a village in Southern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Kirkovo, Kardzhali Region.
The village is located 23 km north-west of Kirkovo, 44 km south-west of Kardzhali, 9 km in the east of Zlatograd, about 8 km west of the village of Benkovski and about 285 km south-east of the capital Sofia city.
The population is about 310 people.
The village is situated in the Eastern Rhodopes, at an altitude of 420 m. The climate is transitive-Meditteranean with relatively mild winters and long and hot summers.
The village of Preseka is well-developed, with good transportation links, there are water- and electricity supply systems. All the mobile operators have coverage. Preseka is the last village between the Regions Kardzhali and Smolyan.
There is a mosque here. The nearest kindergarten is located in the village of Dobromirtsi /4 km in the south-east/ Community center, secondary school, as well as medical assistance you can find in the village of Benkovski as well as in the near town of Zlatograd, where the nearest general hospital is situated too.
In the village of Кayaloba /11 km in the south-east/ there are a few parnars - evergreen oak, relict spieces with Meditteranean origins, included in Bulgaria's Red Book as the only representattive of the spieces in the region. The rock phenomenon "The Elephant" is situated here as well. The rock is believed to have miraculous effects on health of children with patterns and other diseases.
There are plenty of culture monuments that represent all ages from Thracian times on in the region. Such are the Roman bridge and the Rocky mushrooms near the village of Dobromirtsi and the Rock niches in the village of Rastnik /12 km in the north-east/.
In the village of Benkovski you can see a few sites:
About 28 km in the south-east, in the area of the villages of Chakalarovo, Dolno and Gorno kapinovo, Shumnatitsaand Kremen, is situated the protected area Gyumyurdzhinski snezhnik. There are primary sycamor, beech and beech-fir forests over 150 years old preserved here. Many of the spieces are even older - 300-400 years. 11 plant spieces are included in Bulgaria's Red book.
