Village of Poprelka

Poprelka is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Smolyan Municipality, Smolyan region.

It is about 35 km southwest from the town of Smolyan, 46 km northwest from the town Rudozem, about 52 km southwest from the resort Pamporovo and 281 km east from the city of Sofia. The village falls within the land of the village Kremene / 2 km west /.

It is located in the Rhodopes 1237 m altitude. The climate is characterized by cool, humid summers and long and warm autumn.

The population is only 10 inhabitants.

In the neighboring village Mogilitsa / 11 km south / you will find kindergarten and elementary school. In the village of  Smilyan / 17 km southeast / there is a general practitioner. The nearest hospital is located in the town of Smolyan.

Tourism and landmarks

The most famous landmark in the vicinity are Agushevi konatsi in Mogilitsa village - large feudal castle (town hall) built in 1834.

Near the village in the area Sinite virove is situated Uhlovitsa cave. It is one hundred tourist sites. It is about 460 meters, 330 of which are urbanized. At the end of the cave is icy white waterfall. In the cave were found corallites.

In the village of Bukata about 11 km southeast lies the architectural ensemble "Hadzhiyski kashti" - Summer feudal castle / town hall / - restored and converted into a hotel and restaurant. There if the tourists are willing they can knead bread themselves and to test their skills in the processing of wool.

In Smolyan village guests can visit: Smolyan History Museum - the oldest and largest in the Rhodope Mountains, Smolyan Planetarium, Rhodope Drama Theatre, "St. Vissarion", Monument of Orpheus and Eurydice, Rozhen Observatory.
