Village of Plovdivtsi

Plovdivtsi is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Rudozem Municipality, Smolyan region.
Situated 11 km southwest from the town of Rudozem and in southeast direction 37 km from the town of Smolyan, 26 km from the town of Madan, 56 km from ski resort Pamporovo and 280 km from the city of Sofia.
Bus connects it to other cities.
Located in a mountainous area at 1039 m altitude. The climate is continental. Characterized by soft and long winter and cool summer.
The permanent population is about 270 people.
The village has a town hall, kindergarten, elementary school, community center, mosque, shops and restaurant. There is cable TV, Internet and mobile phone coverage.
Medical Center can be found in the town of Rudozem, there is also secondary schools there. The nearest hospital is located in the town of Madan.
SIGHTS AND ATTRACTIONS
You can see Roman road and architectural complex built 200 years ago
Above Plovdivtsi is located the monastery "St. Elena" (formerly known as "Saint Irene").
For lovers of eco-tourism, nature and sport interest is the Eco Trail Plovdivtsi starting point is the area "Domuzola" with 7000 meters length. Endpoint is Plovdivtsi dam.
Medieval fortress "Koznik". This interesting fortress is situated on a cliff above the town of Rudozem. It can be reached by Eco trail "Kechi Kaya" - "Koznik". The castle is part of the whole system of fortresses. There were found many pieces of pottery from different periods and an ancient Roman temple.
