The village of Patitsa

Patitsa is a village in Southern Bulgaria. It is part of Chernoochene Municipality, Kardzhali region.

Patitsa is located 6 km south-east of the village of Chernoochene, 12 km north of Kardzhali, about 37 km south-west of Haskovo and approximately 233 km south-east of the capital Sofia city.

The village of Patitsa spreads in a semi-mountainous area in the Eastern Rhodopes, at an altitude of about 370 m. The climate characterizes with warm summer and cold winter. There is regular bus transport to the neighbouring villages.

The population is approximately 150 people.

The village's infrastructure is settled with partly asphalted and lighted streets. There are water and electricity supply systems. The nearest secondary school, kindergarten, community center and medical assistance you will find in Chernoochene. The nearest multiprofile hospital is in Kardzhali.

TOURISM

In very close proximity of Patitsa,  near the village of Daskalovo /14 km in the north-west/, are situated two microdams - Daskalovo 1 Dam and Daskalovo 2 Dam which are suitable for fishing.

In the village of Pchelarovo /9 km in the north/ you can visit a few sites:

  • The church of St. Paraskeva, known among local people as "St. Petka". It features an original bell tower with six-wall dome with cross over round columns. Near the church is the old monastery school. In close proximity is the big fountain with a small chapel in front of it. The church is operational and is announced to be a monument of culture. 
  • The medieval fortress in Gradishteto area located near the road leading to Haskovo. The fortress is a local monument of culture as well. It is easily accessible and is a pleasant place to visit.
  • An ethnographic museum with a bit collection - local costumes, tools, etc.
