Patalenitsa is a village in Southern Bulgaria, part of municipality Pazardzhik, Pazardzhik Region.

It is situated 15 km southwest direction from the town of Pazardzhik, 34 km northeast direction from the town of Velingrad and 38 km southeast direction from the town of Batak.

The population is about 1200 inhabitants.

The terrain is hilly plain with average altitude of 352 m.
The climate is transcontinental. The winter is mild and has temperatures around 0ºС and the temperatures are around 24ºС in the summer.

The roads are well-maintained. Only 10 minutes away “Trakya” highway goes through and connects the settlement with the town of Pazardzhik, Plovdiv and the capital – Sofia.

In the village there is a school, community center, church and medical office.
The inhabitants are mainly occupied with agriculture, tobacco and livestock.

 

Places of interest and tourism:

This area is eco-friendly and has unique architecture and cultural monuments, camps fro hunters and several chapels.

The “Sveti Dimitar” church is situated in the village of Patalenitsa one of the most important medieval monuments in Bulgaria. It is one of the most preserved cruciform churches in Bulgaria.

Only 1 km away west direction from the village the remains of Batkunion – the castle of one of the biggest medieval town in Pazardzhik – Batkun.

Also close is situated the town of Batak where you can go fishing, hunting and do all kind of tourism as well as winter and water sports.

Around 47 km away is the year-round mountain resort Tsigov chark set on the territory of the Western Rodopi Mountain - south-east from the picturesque Batak Dam. Batak Dam waters offer unforgettable moments for fishing and water sports. Many chalets and hotels are at your service in the area if you want to relax in the beauty and fresh air of Rodopi Mountain.

The town of Velingrad is around 50 km away with more than 200 000 visitors who come for the numerous mineral water springs, comfortable and modern baths, the soft climate and the wonderful nature of the town. The most precious natural treasure of the town of velingrad is the mineral water springs. The temperature of the springs varies from 28ºС up to 86 ºС.
