Ostra mogila is a village in southeastern Bulgaria. It is located in Kotel Municipality, Sliven region.
In Bulgaria there is another village with the same name in Stara Zagora Municipality, Stara Zagora.
It is 30 km northwest from the town of Kotel, 15 km south from the town of Omurtag, 82 km north from the town of Sliven and 387 km northeast from Sofia.
Located 750 meters above sea level. The climate is continental with Mediterranean influence. Characterized by short winters and cool summers.
The permanent population is 180 people.
The village has a town hall and community center. Mobile operators have coverage. Nearest kindergarten, school and hospital are located in the town of Kotel.
TOURISM AND LANDMARKS
The village is located in an area with beautiful and preserved nature, clean air, mountains and mountain streams.
- In the town of Kotel, declared an architectural and historical reserve, tourists can enjoy the rich history and Renaissance architecture. Over 110 houses with a Renaissance architecture are preserved.
- There also you can visit the Pantheon of George Rakovski, Renaissance Museum, Natural History Museum and the Historical Museum, which is one of the 100 national tourist sites.
- Villages Zheravna and Medven are located respectively 46 km south and 44 km southeast - architectural reserves, keeping the look of the wooden houses with Renaissance architecture.
