Orfani is a village in Aegean Macedonia, Greece, part of the municipality Orfani.
Municipality Orfani, Kavala is located 40 minutes away from all the towns of Eastern Macedonia (Kavala - Drama - Serres), 50 minutes from Thessaloniki and Promachon. It is 340 km south of Sofia, 100 km east of Thessaloniki, 70 km from the town of Serres, 55 km southwest of the town of Kavala.
Is composed of the village Karyani, Ofrinio, Orfanio, Galipsos, Akropotamos and Podohorio.
Territory is 200 862 acres.
Its population is approximately 5500 people and during the summer period is increased five times due to the large tourist flow.
Municipality Orfani is a paradise, combining incredible natural conditions. Located Orfanski Bay in the northwestern part of the Aegean Sea. From west bay is surrounded by the Halkidiki peninsula and is bordered to the east coast of Nome Kavala. In the Gulf flow rivers Struma (Strimonas) and Rendina. Mountains around the bay are Chista gora (Symbolo), Kushnitsa (Pangaea), Bogdanska (Kerdilio), knee and Stratoniko in the municipalities of Kavala, Serres, Thessaloniki and Chalkidiki.
In the southern villages (Karajan - Orfani - Ofrinio) there are magnificent beaches - ones with lifeguard and ones - remote and unguarded, offering quiet, away from worldly life, virgin nature and thus the desired feeling of peace and isolation.
The beaches of Karyani, and certain parts of the beach Orfanio offer plenty of choice.
Orfani
Orfani today is the centre of agricultural economy in the area. Population about 700 inhabitants.
Orfani developed north of the old village of which the remains can still be seen today.
The village is situated on the southern slopes of Mount Kushnitsa (Pangaea) near the coast of the Orfanski Bay which bears the name of the village. Orfani developed north of the old village, whose ruins are preserved today.
In Orfani there is a health center, pharmacies, shops, entertainment. Here sequestration is optional, and entertainment is always a new and amazing experience.
The inhabitants are extremely proud of the history of their village: high up the ruins of the ancient fagrito, lower and exactly opposite the countess's castle, the Venetian fortress dominating the Bay of Ofrynio.
Ofrynio
Paralia Ofrynio (or Tuzla) is a tourist village situated in the bay Orpah (Strymonikos Bay) and near Sofia Greek resort, only 3.5 hours away by car. Nearby is the island of Thassos and to which can be reached by ferry from Kavala or Keramoti.
Ofrinio has about 1000 inhabitants whose main occupation is fishing and viticulture.
Destination with a well developed tourism infrastructure all along the coast: hotels, rooms and campsites, meeting the guests, who can be assured of a wonderful city. Traditional taverns, which serve fish dishes and exciting nightlife. A greater distance is the mouth of the Struma River and the ancient city Amphipolis.
Karyani
Village with breathtaking scenery, with pristine beaches, built in the early 20th century.
Today, its residents number about 700 people, most of which are of Thracian origin. The main livelihood of the population is viticulture, the cultivation of olive trees and almonds.
