Orehovo is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Chepelare, Smolyan Region

Orehovo village is located in the western part of the Rhodope Mountains, about 8  km west of  Hvoyna village, 25 km from Chepelare, 60 km southwest of Plovdiv and 60 km north of Smolyan. It is situated at 900 meters altitude in the valley of  Oreshitsa river
The permanent population is about 260 inhabitants.
Convenient bus service is available from Plovdiv and Orehovo is the last stop.

The village has a wonderful temperate climate throughout the year, with small temperature differences and enriched with ionized air.
Orehovo is surrounded by high hills - west of Belocherkovskiya hill,  to the south of St.  Ylia  and  Bryastovets. The varied mountain terrain with magnificent caves with rich karst formations and scenic ravines.

Most village houses are old and arranged in tiers, which makes them unique. The Community Center in Orehovo has two folk groups and a small library.


Tourism

The beautiful mountain village is with magnificent landscapes - ancient green forests and fresh air, wonderful opportunities for mountain eco-tourism and outdoor recreation.
In the village operates tourist information center, where you can get information about the numerous guest houses and interesting sights.
At Orehovo and its surroundings has more than 20 chapels, which makes it suitable for religious tourism. Through the village passes the  longest eco-trail, which begins in the village of Hvoyna and came to Greece.


You can stroll in one of the many hiking trails or visit located around the village landmarks:

- Waterfall, located in the "Duplevo" - 0,5 km. west of the village. Rocky Gorge along the river Oreshica. Protected natural site.
- Waterfall, located in the "Skakaloto" - 0,5 km. south of the village. The second largest waterfall in the country with height of 30 m. Protected natural site.
- Stone Bone - colossal rock that resembled a huge wall, over which grows old spruce forest, located 4 km. southwest of the village.
- Vaklite holes - located 7 km. south of the village (2 km. south of the "Kabata").
- Cheloveshka cave, where during the Ottoman rule was on fire and killed the majority of the population of the village.
- In close proximity are Wonderful Bridges. Natural landmark is shaped by the river, which gradually carved walls and part of the ceiling of a deep cave. After the withdrawal of the river remained two marble arches or so-called bridges.
- About 15 km. south, near Mount Small Persenk is an ancient Roman road.
