Novo selo is a village situated in the Central part of Northern Bulgaria. It is part of Ruse municipality, Ruse region.
There are six more villages with the same name in Bulgaria. They are in Samokov Municipality (Sofia Region), Veliko Tarnovo Municipality (Veliko Tarnovo Region), Novo selo Municipality (Vidin Region), Kyustendil Municipality (Kyustendil Region), Stamboliyski Municipality (Plovdiv Region) and Stara Zagora Municipality (Stara Zagora Region).
It is located 23 km south-east from town of Ruse, 57 km south-west from town of Tutrakan, 55 km north-west from town of Razgrad and 100 km north-east from town of Svishtov.
The population is approximately 1200 people.
Novo selo is set in the Danube plain, about 20 km away from Danube River. The lands are plain and hilly. The village is about 200 m above sea level. The climate is humid continental. Summers are hot and winters are cold.
Infrastructure - town of Ruse is just 23 km away. It is main transport centre - several transport corridors pass through there. They connect Central, Northern and Western Europe.
Electricity, water and telephone net are provided in the village. There is a town hall, a post office, a church, a pharmacy and shops. The health services are represented by one doctor and one dentist. There is a comprehensive school and a kindergarten. 'Nadezhda' community centre organizes different cultural events.
The means of living of the population is mainly agriculture, especially plant-growing (barley and wheat). The region is suitable for vine-growing and wine production.
Local cultural monument is St Prophecy Iliya Church, built in 1868.
There is a swimming pool suitable for relaxation and sun baths near the village.
Natural Park 'Rusenski Lom' offers very good conditions of cave and bicycle tourism. The tourists may try canoeing, horse and bicycle-riding, rock climbing.
Other places of interest in the park are the Rock churches in Ivanovo and the Medieval town of Cherven.
