Nova Shipka is a village in north-east Bulgaria, part of Dolni Chiflik municipality, Varna region. It is located 60 km south-west to the city of Varna, 20 km north-west to the municipal center Dolni Chiflik, 12 km east to Tzonevo dam-lake, 8 km to Sherba national hunting reserve, 3 km from the river of Kamchiya.
The village is situated in the valley of Kamtchiya river, cuddled between low hills and century-old forests. The climate is temperate-continental, influenced by the proximity of the easternmost slopes of Stara Planina mountain. The summer is hot, the autumn - sunny and warm, the winter - cold with plenty of snowfalls and the spring is cool.
The population numbers to approximately 260 people. Altitude - 27 m.
The history of Nova Shipka begins i 1877-1878 when the epic battles near the village of Shipka were carried out and both the villages of Shipka and Sheynovo were burnt down. The people who survived the plunder were left with no shelter and livestock. So some of them headed south in a pursue of a place with fertile soil where they could settle down. They reached as far as the valley of Kamchiya river near the nowadays village of Grozdyovo. Therе they found an old Circassian settlement named "Kesara" which they received a permission from the local authorities to settle at in 1880.In 1905 the people from the newly found village decided to build a church. In 1909 the locals purchased the bell for the church which is still in use nowadays.
In the village there is a community center, a kindergarten, grocery shops, a post office, an Orthodox church, a mayoralty, a cafe, a railway station. Several workshops are functioning on the territory of the village - for the production of con, furniture and hydraulic products.
The village is supplied with water and electricity on a regular basis. The roads are in a very good condition. Regular bus and railway transportation connects Nova Shipka to the town of Goren Chiflik, the city of Varna and the nearby villages.
The local people are predominantly engaged into agriculture.
The beautiful nature, the various landscape and the proximity to Kamchiya River provide excellent conditions for the development of rural, cognitive and eco-tourism. The village is part of many trails and tourist routes.
Near the village there is a spring which is considered curative. The legend has it that a huge golden treasure is hidden near it.
