Village of Mugla

Mugla is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Smolyan Municipality, Smolyan region.

It is nearly 65 km northwest from the town of Smolyan, nearly 56 km southwest from the resort Pamporovo, approximately 35 km south from the town of Devin and 234 km southeast from the city of Sofia.
Bus service connects it to other cities.

Located in a mountainous region. Its altitude is 1505 m. Mountain climate with an Aegean influence. Characterized by mild winter, cool summer.

The permanent population is about 270 people. The main occupation is farming potatoes.

Here there is a town hall, state forestry, primary school, community center, mosque trustees. There is a shop, cable TV, Internet, mobile phone coverage. In the village works a general practitioner. The nearest schools and health facilities are located in the town of Devin.

Mugla has several guest houses and hotel Mugla, in which each tourists can stay overnight, eat Rhodope specialties.

Every year in August the village celebrates its festival called "In the middle of the Summer". The celebration lasts 3 days.

Just below the village is situated the area  "Mihrapa" former holy place for Muslims associated with many legends about the coexistence of different civilizations and mythical Orpheus.
In the area "Malkata dzhinupa" are the remains of "St. Elena" church, in the area "Siratsite"-  are the remains of  church "St.Bogoroditsa", called Meyremnata (from Mary Magdalene).
Reserve Kazanite (35 km) is located near the village. Created to preserve the shapes of nature and mixed forests of spruce, pine, beech, spruce and their typical flora and fauna.
The region of Mugla is known among speleologists for the caves. Dangaleshka propast  with length of 1142 m ,  Kambanite - 456 m, Ramadanska dupka, etc. .
