Village of Mokren

Mokren is a village in southeastern Bulgaria. It is located in the Kotel Municipality, Sliven region.
It is 28 km southeast from the town of Kotel, about 39 km northwest from the town of Karnobat, about 46 km northeast from the town of Sliven, 92 km northwest from the city of Burgas and 357 km southeast from the city of Sofia.
The village is situated on the road leading through the pass Kotel-Ticha, there is a regular bus service that connects it to the district town.
Mokren is located at the foot of Stara Planina mountain, at the end of Sungurlare valley, at 265 m altitude. The permanent population is about 850 people, mostly dealing with livestock, agriculture and viticulture.
The climate is temperate-continental with Mediterranean influence. Winter is mild and short, cool summer.
The village has a town hall, church, community center, elementary school, kindergarten. There is Internet, cable TV and coverage of all mobile operators on its territory. Guests of the village can stay in the guest house which has a restaurant. Two GPs and a dentist take care of the village residents. The nearest hospital is located in the town of Kotel.
Near the village crosses the River Marash - a wonderful place for recreation and fishing.
In the area you can visit the world famous architectural reserves in Zheravna and in Kotel, which are part of a hundred tourist site of the Bulgarian Tourist Union.
Natural Park "Sinite kamani" near Sliven offers excellent opportunities for recreation, sport and tourism.
