Mogilishte is a village in North-East Bulgaria, part of Kavarna municipality, Dobrich region. It is located 6 km south-west to the town of Dobrich, 67 km north-east to the city of Varna, 5 km north to the town of Kavarna, 25 km north-east to the town of Balchik and 7 km from the sea-coast.

Mogilishte is situated on a plane above the sea. The climate is temperate-continental, influenced by the proximity of the sea - the summer is cool, the autumn - warm, the winter is mild, yet windy and the spring is sunny. The population numbers to approximately 100 people. Altitude - 150 m. The former name of the village used to be Yuz Gyubenik, which means "hundred hills".

In Mogilishte there is a mayoralty, a community center with a library and groups of folklore singing and customs, a pensioner's club, a post-office, a grocery shop, a pub, a beautiful small park. There is a villa zone by the village.
Electricity and water-supply are available on regular basis.
The wind-park in Mogilishte is one of the first to be built in Bulgaria. It is located near the town of Kavarna, some 6 km from the sea-coast. The total capacity of the park is 9MW. The speed and the intensity of the winds in the area are making it suitable for the generation of energy.
All modern communications are available on the territory of the village - coverage of all mobile operators, internet, satellite TV, digital telephone exchange. The roads are in an excellent condition. Regular bus transportation connects Mogilishte to the town of Kavarna and the nearby villages.
Visits to cultural events /concerts, festivals and theatre shows/ in the town of Kavarna are organized by the mayoralty on a regular basis.

The proximity of the village to te municipal center of Kavarna and the sea-coast provides great prospects for the development rural and cognitive tourism.
The local people are predominantly engaged into farming, which is a traditional occupation since the area is famous for its fertile lands and favourable climate. Part of the permanent village's residents a commuting to their jobs in Kavarna.
Mogilishte is an attractive settlement for foreigner willing to purchase a home in Bulgaria. Some 15 houses were sold to English families. In spite of the economical situation during the past few years, the prices of the properties remain unchanged.

landmarks

  • An ethnographic exposition is on display in the community center of Mogilishte. It presents the customs of the local people in the past. Displayed are clothing, agricultural tools, utensils. One of the most valuable exhibits is a sleeveless jacket, sewn 120 years ago.
