Village of Medeshevtsi

Medeshevtsi is a village in northwestern Bulgaria. Located in the municipality of Gramada, District of Vidin .

It is situated 15 km northwest of Gramada, 29 km southwest of the regional center Vidin and 212 kilometers north-west of Sofia.

The terrain is hilly, the average altitude is 156 m, the climate is temperate continental with relatively cold winters and hot summers.

The population of the village numbers about 53 people.

10km northwest of the village passes the main road for Serbia, 10 km. southeast passes main road E79 Vidin- Montana.

There are high school and kindergarten, GPs and dentists in the municipal center Gramada.

Tourism and landmarks:

Farfun dam is about 6 km south of the village of Medeshevtsi and a river passes through it. They for fishing.

There is a church in the village.

There are quotes of great Bulgarian poets inscribed on several of the public buildings of the village.

2 km southwest in a straight line from the center of the village is Medeshevtsi fortress. 

In the region you can also visit:

Magura cave, located about 38 km south. The cave is one of the most beautiful in the country, a part of the Hundred national tourist sites. It was carved from a river. It occupies over 30 000 sq m of area and the total length of the galleries found so far is about 2500 m.

Rakovitsa monastery Sveta Troitsa /Holy Trinity/, which is located 30 km to the southwest. Founded in 10-11 century, after the fall of Bulgaria under Ottoman rule the monastery declined. It was restored in the 17th century by St. Pimen of Sofia, but in the late 18th century, was destroyed. Currently it is restored and operating.
