Makotsevo is a village in western Bulgaria. It is located in Gorna Malina Municipality, Sofia District.
It is situated about 40 km from Sofia, 19 km from the town of Elin Pelin, 40 km from Pirdop and 65 km from Panagyurishte. Neighbouring villages of Makotsevo are Sarantsi village located at 5 km distance and village Chekanchevo - 3 km distance.
The climate of the municipality of Gorna Malina is moderately continental. The presence of mountains prevents the penetration and influence of warm Mediterranean currents and therefore in these areas is relatively cold winter and long and summer is relatively hot. Most precipitation falls during the spring-summer season.
Nature in this area is preserved in the natural look. No contamination of groundwater and surface water. Industrial activity that takes place in this region does not cause the penetration of harmful emissions into the atmosphere above the permitted concentration.The studies have shown that Gorna Malina Municipality is one of the cleanest in the Sofia area.
In the village is a small chapel which is currently being restored. The chapel is associated with many myths and legends with the villagers, his name is St. George.
The main religion in the village is Orthodox Christianity. Church of the village was built in 17 century and it has frescoes. The church was renovated between 2000 and 2003.
Each year the villagers brew a sacrifice in place Padaloto in honor of St. Elijah.
The village has good infrastructure and developing rural tourism. Proximity to the capital determines the possibility of multiple cultural entertainment, the population of the municipality and its guests, while Sofia region are concentrated sites of national importance, national parks and protected areas.
