Village of Lovtsi

Lovtsi is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Madan Municipality, Smolyan region.

It is located 2 km northwest from the town of Madan, 30 km southeast from the town of Smolyan, about 13 km northeast from the town of Rudozem and 265 km east from the city of Sofia.
There is a regular bus service to the towns of Madan and Smolyan.

Located in the mountainous area at ​​857 m above sea level. The climate is continental. Winter is long but mild. Summer is cool.

The permanent population is about 230 people.

There is a town hall, a shop and a pub. The village has mobile phone coverage, internet and cable TV. Nearest kindergarten, school and hospital are located in the town of Madan.

Landmarks and tourism

At 6 km near the village of Maglishta is located an interesting landmark - cave situated in the area Dupkata. The entrance is 2 meters high and 3 meters wide. There is a creek entering the cave. The main gallery is downward and is following large marble cracks. At about 40 meters from the entrance to the gallery collapsed three meters well above that opens upward side gallery, which leads to a small mud room.

In the town of Madan, you can visit the following landmarks:

- Cave Museum "Sharenka".  This is the first in Bulgaria Cave Museum.
- Area Gabata - rock formation with a small cave in which they found pieces of pottery from different eras. Following the path on the cliff to reach the Thracian mines, where were found primitive tools for the extraction of ore and clay lamps.
- Nearby is the rock 'Rimpapa" - 50 meters high, resembling a man with a cloak. Behind it there are remains of an ancient village, where they found traces of clay pipe.
- The area Kichikaya - fortress later conquered by the Romans. There are old stone buildings and walls of the fortress wall. Fully preserved is the well carved nine meters down the cliff.
