Village of Lilekovo

Lilekovo is a village in southern Bulgaria. Located in Chepelare Municipality, Smolyan region.
It is about 13 km northeast from the town of Chepelare, in the same direction at 25 km from the resort Pamporovo and 40 km from the town of Smolyan, 220 km southeast from the city of Sofia.
The village has a regular bus service to the towns of Smolyan and Chepelare.
It is situated at 1389 meters altitude. The climate is temperate-continental with Mediterranean influence, characterized by heavy snowfalls in winter and mostly hot summer days.
The permanent population is about 60 people. The main occupation is farming and growing potato.
In Lilekovo there is a town hall and shop. Nearest schools and hospital are located in the town of Chepelare.
Surroundings and sights
In the neighboring village Bogutevo / 7 km southwest / you can visit the chapel "St. George".
In Chepelare operates Europe's only Museum of Speleology, the beauties of caves and cave drawings from the dawn of human history are preserved there.
Museum of skis and ski sports with a large collection is situated in the largest municipal library - "Rhodope spark". It keeps cups, medals, skiing and other sports accessories of Chepelare ski racers from the emergence of a sports association "Rozhen" which has a 100-year history. The museum store and different ski models, production of Chepelare factory "Pamporovo ski".
Only 25 km from the village is located Pamporovo - the most popular and biggest ski resort in Bulgaria. Situated at 1650 meters above sea level at the foot of peak Snezhanka (1926 m). The resort and the ski slopes are surrounded by fir trees, which makes it very beautiful and attractive. Its wonderful hotels offer all modern amenities and great service.
