Village of Kozarka

Kozarka is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Nedelino Municipality, Smolyan region.

It is located 64 kilometers southeast from the town of Smolyan, about 9 km east from the town of Nedelino, 35 km southeast from the town of Madan and 307 km in the same direction from the capital city Sofia.

Located 497 meters above sea level. The climate is moderate-continental. Winter is mild and snowy, no sharp and prolonged cold snap, summer is cool and wet, and the autumn - long and warm.

There are about 150 people here. The main crops grown are tobacco and potatoes.

In the village there is a town hall, shop and cafe. Kindergarten, school and medical center can be found in the town of Nedelino. The nearest hospital is located in the town of Madan.

 

Tourism and landmarks

In the town of Nedelino you can visit:

  • Peak "St. Nedelya" - 865 meters high,  chapel "St. Nedelya"was built.
  • Chapels "St. Konstantin and Elena", "St. Athanasius" and "St. Nedelya" - forming the so-called "Krastova gora".
  • Alada Peak - the highest point in the area - 1,241 m. It is located 20 km east from the town of Nedelino. At the foot of the tribune is stretched green lawn that is ideal for picnics.
  • Fortress Ustra. Located at 1015 m altitude, near the border with Nedelino, in Dzhebel Municipality. Entire length of the wall is 113 meters and the height of the walls preserved up to 10 meters in circumference of the fortress archaeologists have uncovered the foundations of dwellings, cisterns and warehouses for food. For the fort is believed to be built in 12-10 century BC by Thracians. Having served not only for defense, and for a home of Thracian captains.

In the town of Madan you can see: Cave Museum "Sharenka", area Gabata, rock Rimpapa, Kichikaya area.
