Koritata is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Rudozem Municipality, Smolyan region.
It is about 13 km southwest from the town of Rudozem, about 39 km southeast from the town of Smolyan, 27 km southwest from the town of Madan and 281 km southeast from the city of Sofia.
Regular bus service connects it to other cities.
Located in southern part of the Rhodope Mountain at 909 meters altitude. The climate is continental. Characterized by mild and long winter and cool summer.
The permanent population is about 210 people.
The village has a town hall, restaurant and store. There is cable TV, Internet and mobile phone coverage.
Medical Center can be found in the town of Rudozem, there is also a kindergarten and school. The nearest hospital is located in the town of Madan.
SIGHTS AND ATTRACTIONS
Above the village of Plovdivtsi / 3 km northeast / is situated monastery "St. Elena" (formerly known as "Saint Irene").
Eco Trail Plovdivtsi, starting from the area "Domuzola" with a length of 7000 m and reaches dam Plovdivtsi.
Medieval fortress "Koznik". This interesting fortress is situated on a cliff above the town of Rudozem. It can be reached by Eco trail "Kechi Kaya" - "Koznik". The castle is part of the whole system of fortresses. There were found many pieces of pottery from different periods and an ancient Roman temple.
In the town of Madan, you can visit: Cave Museum "Sharenka", area "Gabata" - a small rock cave, rock "Rimpapa", area "Kichikaya" - a Proto-Bulgarian fortress.
