Village of Kokortsi

Kokortsi is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Rudozem Municipality, Smolyan region.
Situated 15 km northwest from the town of Rudozem, about 21 km southeast from the town of Smolyan, 38 km in the same direction from the resort Pamporovo and 268 km from the capital - Sofia. Village of Polkovnik Serafimovo is located 11 km southwest.
The village is situated at an altitude of 825 meters in the southern part of the Rhodope Mountains.
The climate is temperate-continental, with a strong Mediterranean influence. Winters are mild but snowy. Spring - green and fresh. Summer - cool. Autumn - long and warm.
The permanent population is about 5 people.
In the nearby village of Polkovnik Serafimovo operate a community center, several shops and small hotels. The closest medical and educational institutions are located in the town of Rudozem.
TOURISM AND LANDMARKS
In the town of Rudozem interesting are the following places:
Medieval fortress "Koznik" - situated on a cliff above the town of Rudozem. It can be reached by Eco trail "Kechi Kaya" - "Koznik". The castle is part of the whole fortification system, which in the past has served to defend the Rhodopes.
Ancient Temple under the mount "Gypsy gradishte". This historical landmark is reached by Eco trail "Gypsy gradishte" - "The court".
In Smolyan village guests can visit: Smolyan History Museum - the oldest and largest in the Rhodope Mountains, Smolyan Planetarium, Rhodope Drama Theatre, "St. Vissarion", Monument of Orpheus and Eurydice, Rozhen Observatory.
There can also be seen following places: "Wonderful Bridges" / 77 km /, area Haidushki polyani", "Rocks of Orpheus", "Trigrad Gorge/ 80 km / and Buynovsko Gorge", "Yagodinska" Cave / 89 km / , "Devil's Throat Cave" / 75 km /.
