Knijovnik is a village in south Bulgaria. It is part of Haskovo municipality, Haskovo region.

The settlement is situated 15 km southeast from Haskovo, 80 km nortwest of Svilengrad and 95 km southeast from Plovdiv. The closest frontier checkpoints are next to Svilengrad - Kapitan Andreevo at the Turkish border and Kapitan Petko voivoda at the Greek border. The closest villages are Manstir, Jalti Briag and Dolno Voivodino.

Through Knijovnik passes Rousse-Podkova railway and road 5074. Beside train station, regular bus line connects the village with the other settlements around.

Population is about 600 people.

Climate in the region is favorable - warm summers, cool winters and little rainfalls. Opportunities for growing wheat, sesame, corn, and especially cotton and tobacco. The altitude of the village is 215 meters.

Knijovnik is clean and well maintained village. Good infrastructure, there are water supply, electricity and communications networks. On the territory of the village you can find a town hall, a post office, "Vasil Levski" primary school, "Kalinka" kindergarten, a community center, a store, a restaurant, a stadium. There is a doctor and a dentist, but specialized medical care can be found in the district town of Haskovo.

The stadium is named after the legendary footballer Peter Zhekov, the best Bulgarian goalscorer of all time. Knijovnik enters into the Guinness World Records with the largest golden boot, made ​​in honor of the famous sports person born in the same village.

Tourist sites and routes

Opportunities for long walks and excursions. A kilometer away is Knijovnik dam. At about 20 km is "Studen kladenets" dam. In the region you can find archaeological excavations of an ancient settlement, Roman Thracian fortress and the Trachian oak (evergreen tree of more than 40 years, 10 m high, a single known flora representative on Earth).
