Kereka is a village in the municipality Dryanovo, Gabrovo region.
It is located 10 km north of Dryanovo, 30 km northeast of Gabrovo, 15 km southwest of Veliko Tarnovo, about 215 km northeast of Sofia. The main road Sofia - Varna passes about 10 km away from the village.
It is situated at an altitude of 409 meters. The climate is characterized by mild winters and cool summers.
The population of about 70 people. There is a regular bus service to neighboring settlements and Municipality.
In Kereka there are a town hall, a post office and restaurants. There are a correctional boarding school, guest house and temple. The nearest hospital, schools and kindergartens are within the Municipality town.
In the village you can visit the temple "The Annunciation" and the first monument to Cyril and Methodius, located in the school yard.
Only 15 km away Dryanovo Monastery "St. Archangel Michael" the cave "Bacho Kiro". Dryanovo Monastery, founded in the 12th century, is a bastion of the Bulgarian spiritual culture. In the village Ledenik / 13 km / is located Shemshi Bay Tower. It is the tallest residential building in the Balkans, built entirely of stone. There is a museum, which is divided into three floors, where are situated ethnographic exhibition and household items.
