Karanovo is a village in southeastern Bulgaria. It is located in Nova Zagora Municipality, Sliven region.
Situated 10 km northwest from the town of Nova Zagora, about 47 km southwest from the town of Sliven, 46 km northeast from the town of Stara Zagora, 37 km south from the town of Tvarditsa and 265 km southeast from the city of Sofia.
There is regular bus service to the town of Nova Zagora.
Located in the Thracian plain, at 201 m altitude. The climate is continental. Winter is mild and dry, summer is relatively hot. Rainfall is more abundant in autumn and spring.
The permanent population numbered 944 people.
The village has a town hall, kindergarten, elementary school, community center, a general store. There is coverage of mobile operators, Internet and cable TV. In the village you can find a General Practitioner and a dentist.
Nearest secondary school and hospital are located in the town of Nova Zagora.
SIGHTS AND ATTRACTIONS
Karanovo mound is located in the northwestern part of the village. It is one of the most significant historical sites in the Balkans and Europe. There all the prehistoric ages are embodied - from Neolithic to Bronze including. The mound was inhabited for about 3000 years.
Eastern mound - Revealed are three brick tombs. There is found a rich tomb furniture - bronze, glass and pottery, lamps, ink, gold wreath and others.
Archaeologists from the Historical museum in Nova Zagora discovered in an ancient mound quadricycle with unique bronze trim.
Zhrebchevo Dam and Tunzha River are located about 15 km from the village. They provide ideal conditions for recreation and fishing.
Guests of the village can stay at the guest house with restaurant, bar and barbecue.
