Kalekovets is a village in South Bulgaria. It is located in Maritsa municipality, Plovdiv region.

The village of Kalekovets is situated 14 km northeast of the town of Plovdiv, around 29 km north of Asenovgrad, around 18 km southwest of the town of Rakovski and around 43 km east of the town of Pazardzhik. Along the river around 1 km in northeast direction passes one of the biggest rivers in Bulgaria - Stryama.

The population is around 2600 inhabitants.

The terrain in the region is plain. The climate is transcontinental. Winter is relatively mild and hot, and summer is hot. The average temperature in January is around 0°C and the average temperature in July is around 23-24°C.

There is a community center in the village in which courses in folk dancing and folk singing are held, a church, a library, a school, a kindergarten, a pharmacy, three dental offices and one general practicing doctor. A regular bus line connects the village with the town of Plovdiv and the neighboring villages.

In the region of Kalekovets are located a number of interesting tourist sights. Some of them are:

Plovdiv, home to one of the most beautiful places in Bulgarian history - the Old town, a small Renaissance island in the center of Plovdiv. The sights of the town are many: Dzhumaya Dzhamiya (mosque) from XIV-XV c., the Cathedral church "St. Bogoroditsa" built suring the reign of Murat II (1844), the Church "St. st. Constantine and Elena" built in 1832, the Church "St. Marina" with an unique iconostasis (1856).
The Antique theater is located on the south entrance of the fortress Philipopolis. Built during II c., it is one of the most preserved amphitheaters in our lands. The archaeological complex Nebet tepe includes remains of Thracian settlement. The ruins of the fortress Philipopolis can be seen from the central part of the town.

Asenovgrad - the rock phenomenon "Belantash". Other natural sights are the reserve "Chervenata stena" ("The Red Wall") in the region of the village of Bachkovo, the cave "Topchika", the locality of "Usoykata" (the region of the village of Dobrostan) and the locality of "Lale bair" in the region of the town.

Rakovski - the International festival of mummer and masquerade games "Kukove" - Rakovski is held every year and it is the most popular event in the region. More than 2000 artists from different regions in Bulgaria and other European countries - Serbia, Greece, Macedonia, Romania and Ireland, participate.
