Kakrina is a village in North Bulgaria. It is situated in Lovech municipality, Lovech region.
The altitude is about 465 m. The climate is temperate and is characterized by cold winter and warm summer. It is favorable for the growing of wine yards and fruit trees. The winds are mostly with west direction.
The permanent population is about 287 people. The people are mainly occupied with stock breeding and herbs growing. There also is made workshop for the drying and packaging of the collected herbs.
The access to the village is good through an asphalt road. It is with electricity and water systems, also there is Internet access and the mobile operators have coverage. Kakrina is connected to the municipality center Lovech with regular bus line.
The village is with town hall, church, community center, drinking fountain, tourist information center, dentist and GP look after the residents. The nearest kindergartens, schools and hospitals are located in the town of Lovech.
The gathering of the village is on 15 August when is the christian holiday Golyama Bogoroditsa.
The village is enlisted in the 100 Tourist Sites of Bulgaria made by the Bulgarian Tourist Union. Here is located Kakrinskoto hanche that had been shelter for Vasil Levski - national hero of Bulgaria, before he was captured by the Ottomans on 27-th December. In the yard there is constructed small monument honoring the Apostle.
The church "Uspenie Bogorodichno" was constructed in 1930 and today it is declared monument of culture with regional significance.
The are is stocked with pray and this offers great opportunities for hunting. Neat the village there is dam for sports fishing.
In the town of Lovech you can visit the covered bridge of Kolyo Ficheto Master, Varosha quarter with its 160 renovated houses, the Museum and the art gallery.
