Ichera is a village in southeastern Bulgaria. It is located in Sliven Municipality, Sliven Region.
The village is located about 20 miles south of Jeravna, 23 kilometers northeast of the town of Sliven, about 116 km west from the nearest port of Burgas.
Situated in the shadow of a mountain ridge, at an altitude of 498 meters, along a small river.
The permanent population is about 219 inhabitants. Summer is cool and relatively mild winter.
Ichera Village is one of the most picturesque villages in the Sliven Balkan. Along with Medven and Jeravna, Ichera keep scars of long history and strong traditions.
Legends say that Tsar Simeon the Great has donated the village and lands around it the most faithful boyar, often visited the village to hunt, so the village was called "king's" chamber.
Old houses in Ichera are many - most of them were built in the XIX century and bear the characteristics of the building during the Revival. Village church of St Dimitar Solunski - was built in 1842.
Local community center that works today and to which a library was founded in 1820 as a small school.
Until a few decades in the village had a school and kindergarten, but today are not functioning.
The greatest value of Ichera is nature. The village is surrounded by forests and beautiful meadows with many wild flowers, herbs and mushrooms, the air is incredibly clean and refreshing. Around the village there is a very appropriate and pleasant places for biking, hiking and picnicking, fishing.
Summer and spring and are most suitable season for tourism in this region - the village has three hotels, and nearby, the road to the nearby village of Gradec, there is a complex of hotel and restaurant.
In recent years, besides being a favorite place for rural tourism, Ichera is a favorite place for a summer house on Bulgarians and foreigners - mostly English.
