Village of Haracherite

Haracherite is a village in the municipality of Gabrovo, Gabrovo region.
It is located about 10 km northeast of the city of Gabrovo, about 5 km north of the village of Bozhentsi, approximately 21 km northwest of the town of Tryavna and about 220 km east of Sofia.
The village is situated in Balkan Mountains, at an altitude of 480 meters. The climate is characterized by cold winters with prolonged snow cover and summer is cool.
The population outnumbers about 30 people. There is bus transportation to the village of Bozhentsi.
The village has electricity and water supply. There is a range of mobile operators and satellite TV. There are a mixed shop, guest house and a community center with library and group dances in Haracherite. The nearest nursery, school and hospital are located in Gabrovo.
It is believed that the village name derives from the Turkish word poll-tax - a place where taxes are levied.
Near Haracherite tourists can see the following sites:
Architectural History Reserve Bozhentsi: the village has become a monument of the Bulgarian National Revival architecture.
Dryanovo Monastery, situated about 25 km away. It is a historic landmark and a favorite tourist site.
Bacho Kiro cave which is located about 300 meters from the Dryanovo monastery. It is about 3500 meters long and there were found prehistoric artifacts.
Gabrovo - city of humor and satire. Here is the Architectural-Ethnographic Complex "Etar".
