Village of Granichak

Granichak is a village in Northwestern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Belogradchik, Vidin region.

It is located 13 km northwest of the municipal center - Belogradchik, 20 km southwest of Dimovo city, 56 km in the same direction from the town of Vidin and 188 kilometers northwest of the capital - Sofia.

Granichak is located in a mountainous region. The average altitude is 395 m.

Its population numbers about 15 people.

The road to Granichak is in good condition,  a bus travels to the village three times a week, but there is no shop.

There are no educational institutions and medical care in Granichak. Residents can rely on a high school , primary school and kindergarten, as well as GPs, dentists and specialist in children's diseases. In Rabisha village (17 km north) has a primary school, GP and dentist.

Landmarks:

There is a river passing through the village.

Anishte - a roadside station, which is located next to the road Salash-Belogradchik, 2 km east of the village Granichak. There are remains of the destroyed ancient settlement representing a separate building consisting of 4 rooms. It is believed that this is a Roman villa situated on the road Ratsiaria-Naissus (now Nish, Serbia), probably destroyed by the barbarian invasions at the end of III and early IV century. During the excavations so far have found many fragments of pottery, coins and ornaments used by the Romans in 2-3 century.

Magura cave- one of the most beautiful caves in the country and Rabishko lake- the largest inland lake in the country are 20 km away from the village.

Belogradchishki rocks- perhaps one of the most famous rock formations in Bulgaria are 18 km away.
