Gorna Sekirna is a village in West Bulgaria. It is situated in Breznik municipality, Pernik region

It is 27 km southwest of the town of Breznik and 47 km west of the town of Pernik. The village of Dolna Sekirna is 6 km east, the village of Kosharevo is 12 km in the same direction. The capital Sofia is 72 km east. 

It is situated in mountain area at the foot of Erulska mountain and its altitude is 1052 m. The climate is temperate and falls under the influence of the mountain relief.

The permanent population is about 31 people. The village is with electricity system. 

The nearest stores and medical assistance you can find in the village of Dolna Sekirna. Hospital, dentists and pharmacies you can find in the town of Breznik. Schools and kindergartens there are in the village of Noevtsi (22 km) and the municipality. 

Tourism and landmarks

In the village of Gorna Sekirna you can see the church "St Archangel Michael" which dates back to the Renaissance and is art monument. There also is constructed monument of the people who died in the antifascist struggle 1944. 

The village is starting point of a route to Krast peak from which could be taken the highest peak in Erulska mountain - Golemi vrah (1481 m). 

Another landmarks which could be visited in the area are Giginski monastery "St st Kozma and Damyan" (15 km) and the church "St Nickola Letni"

Bardoto area is famous for its "zhelyazna" mineral water which springs from the south part of the hill in Leskov dol area. The mineral spring attracts healthy and sick people from the ancient past for its healing characteristics which are due to the rich mineral chemical compounds and valuable physico-chemical and and physiological characteristics.
