Gorna arda is a village in South Bulgaria. It is situated in Smolyan municipality, Smolyan region.

It is 35 km southwest of the regional center the town of Smolyan, in the same direction 33 km from the town of Rudozem and 275 km southeast of the capital Sofia. The neighboring villages of Arda and Mogilitsa are 4 km and 8 km northwest.

It is on altitude of about 1162 m. The climate is characterized by cool summer with lots of precipitation, the fall is long and warm.

The permanent population is about 70 people.

The village is well maintained with asphalted streets and the mobile operators have coverage. Here are functioning community center, town hall, mosque, store and coffee shop. In the village of Mogilitsa there is kindergarten and primary school. The nearest medical centers are in the regional center the town of Smolyan.

Tourism and landmarks

At disposal of the tourists there are a couple of guest houses and walking and biking routes. There are opportunities for horse riding, hunting and fishing.

From the village there is route to the springs of one of the largest Bulgarian rivers - Arda river.

The Medieval fortress Koznik in the town of Rudozem. This interesting fortress is situated on a rock above the town. To it goes eco trail Kechikaya - Koznik. The fortress is element of the whole defense system. They found many pieces of pottery from different eras and ancient Roman temple.

Agushevi konatsi /architectural and art monument of culture/ is situated in the in the village of Mogilitsa about 8 km.

Uhlovitsa cave is between Mogilitsa and Koshnitsa.

For the people that enjoy winter sports advantage is the proximity to Pamporovo ski slopes /49 km/ and the town of Chepelare /57 km/.
