Golemanovo is a village in northwestern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Kula, Vidin region.

It is situated near the border with Serbia, 8 km northwest of the municipal center Kula, 40 km southwest of the town of Vidin and 222 km northwest of Sofia city. It is 7 km away from the main road Vidin-Kula.

Its population numbers 108 people. The climate is temperate-continental. The terrain is hilly and the altitude reaches 499 meters.

There are 2 schools- that are not active, community center and church, which was built in 1886, in the village. Children can be taught in a high school and a kindergarten in the town of Kula. There are GPs, dentists and different specialists also in Kula.

The village has electricity. It is paved, but there is no sanitation, people use water from wells.

Tourism and landmarks: 


The church in the village of Golemanovo is over 120 years old.

There are two dams near the village, that are suitable for recreation and fishing. Boynishka river also passes through the village.

There are five monuments related to the war dead villagers.

In the region you can also visit:

Rakovishki monastery "Holy Trinity", which is located 30 km southwest. Founded in X-XI century, and after the fall of Bulgaria under Ottoman rule declined. It was restored in the XVII century by St. Pimen Sofiyski. In the late XVIII century it was destroyed. Currently it is restored and operating. The road to the monastery passes through the village of Rakovica.

Ancient fortress Castra Martis, whose remains are located in the town of Kula. It was likely built by the Emperor Diocletian between III and IV century. It defended the way from Bononia to Singidunum through Vrashka chuka that is one of the western passes of the Balkan Mountains.

"Magura" cave, located about 45 km southeast of the village. The cave is one of the most beautiful in the country, a part of the Hundred national tourist sites.

Belogradchik Rocks - one of the most famous rock formations in Bulgaria, also a part of the Hundred national tourist sites. Located 45 km southeast.
