village of Glogovitsa

Glogovitsa is a village in West Bulgaria. It is situated in Tran municipality, Pernik region.

It is 8 km south of the town of Tran and 47 km northwest of the town of Pernik. The capital Sofia is 76 km southeast.

It is situated in mountain region and its altitude is about 855 m. The climate is with clearly expressed four seasons - warm but not hot summer while the winter is severe. The spring is cool with lots of precipitation and comes in the end of March the beginning of April and the fall is warmer.

The permanent population is about 83 people.

The village is with electricity and water systems. The mobile operators have coverage. The main streets are asphalted and with lighting. Bus transportation connects it to other settlements. The village is with year round access through an asphalt road.

Here are functioning town hall, pub and store for all goods. The nearest GP, dentist, hospital, kindergarten and school are working in the town of Tran.

Tourism and landmarks

In close proximity to the village is St Nikolay monastery that was found in 1865 and needs restoration works.

In the neighboring village of Busintsi you can explore the unique "Museum exhibition of the Busintsi ceramics" which was opened in 1982. Together with the museum section and the exhibition halls there are also working studios and small hotel.
Now in the museum there are over 1300 pieces (jugs, jars, cups, bowls, casseroles, pots etc.) total of about a hundred different forms made by over a thousand craftsmen from the village and the region. Only in this museum you could see the so called "okanicheta" which are small jugs for wine and rakiya, the "crondir" which is unique kind of a jug with a hole in the middle. The museum is also keeping a hundred year old furnace that was used by the world famous craftsman Petar.

In proximity are situated the picturesque Erma River Gorge, Rui peak, the rock church "St Petka", the Tran monastery and the Vrabcha monastery. There is great opportunity for the hunting lovers to catch something in the woods near the village that are full of wild animals. The people who prefer fishing could go the near dams Yarlovtsi and Lilyantsi.
