In the past the village was named Araplar. Its population numbers to approximately 300 people. The elevation above the sea level is 287 m. The climate is temperate-continental characterized by a mild winter with plentiful snowfall and a cool summer.
In the village there is: a mayor's office, a community center with a library, a food shop, a cafe, a post-office, an Orthodox church built in 1907 which needs to be repaired.
In the nearby village of Stefan Karadja, located some 6 km away from General Kolevo there are two schools - a professional school of agriculture and forestry and a secondary school, a kindergarten.
Near the village there is a controlled access dam-lake where fishing lovers may enjoy catching carp, silver carp, grass carp and zander. A river is passing through the village, as well.
The nature surrounding the village is very beautiful and picturesque. The area is ecologically clean and lavishly green. The locals are predominantly engaged into the production of fruits and vegetables and stock-breeding.
There are excellent conditions for fishing, rural and eco-tourism.
Regular bus-lines available from the village to the city of Varna, Valchi Dol and the nearby villages on a daily basis.
