Village of Galishte

Galishte is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Madan Municipality, Smolyan region.
Situated 14 km northeast from the town of Madan, nearly 43 km southeast from the town of Smolyan, 21 km northwest from the town of Nedelino and 277 km southeast from the city of Sofia.
Located in a mountainous area at an altitude of 850 m. Climate is continental. The winter is long but mild with heavy snow. Summer is cool.
The permanent population is about 180. Regular bus service connects it with the towns of Nedelino and Smolyan.
The village has town hall, library, general store and cafe. There is coverage of mobile operators. Nearest kindergarten and school are located in the town of Madan. There you can get medical and dental care, there is a hospital and pharmacies.
SIGHTSEEING AND ATTRACTIONS
In the town of Nedelino you can visit: Mount "St. Nedelya" - 865 meters high and chapels "St. Constantine and Elena", "St. Athanasius" and "St. Nedelya" - forming so called -"Cross-forest".
In the town of Madan are the following attractions: Cave Museum "Sharenka", area "Gabata" - small rock formation with a cave, rock "Rimpapa", area "Kichikaya" a Proto-Bulgarian fortress, later conquered by the Romans.
In the town of Smolyan: Historical Museum, Planetarium, Rhodope Drama Theatre, "St.Vissarion of Smolen", Monument of Orpheus and Eurydice, Observatory Rozhen.
