Gabrovnitsa is a village in Montana Municipality, Montana Region.
It nestles in the Danube plain, on 188 m above the sea level. The climate characterizes with warm summer and cold, snowy winter.
Gabrovnitsa is the biggest village in the municipality. Its population is approximately 1150 people.
The village comprises a town-hall, a shop, a pastry shop, 'St St Cyril and Methodius' elementary school, 'Slantse' kindergarten and a community centre. Information centre is envisaged to be opened in the community centre, thanks to 'Melinda and Bill Gates' programme.
Regular railway transportation goes to Vidin, Sofia and the whole country. Medical care is provided by one doctor. The nearest hospital is in town of Montana.
Monument of the dead soldiers rises in the village.
The only flying centre for air and extreme sports in North-western Bulgaria is just 15 km away - in the village of Erden.
The guests of the village may visit in Montana the Historical Museum, the Art Gallery, the Drama Theatre and 'Lapidarium' architecture complex.
The fair of Gabrovnitsa takes place each year in May.
