Village of Gabrovitsa

Gabrovitsa is a village in Southern Bulgaria. It is located in municipality Belovo, Pazardzhik district.

There is another village with this name in Bulgaria that is situated in municipality Svoge, Sofia district.

The village is situated between the towns of Kostenets and Belovo. It is 40 km northwestern direction from the town of Pazardzhik, 12 km northwestern direction from the town of Belovo, 25 km northwestern direction from the town of Septemvri and 10 km from the town of Kostenets.
The dwelling place consists of two settlements – Gabrovitsa and Gabrovski hanove with distance between them of 1 km.

The population is about 500 inhabitants.
The terrain is hilly plain with average altitude of 500m. The climate in the area is transcontinental. The winter is mild and snowy with average temperatures about 2ºС and the summer is cool with average temperatures about 23ºС.

Gabrovitsa is connected with two of the main towns in the area – Belovo and Kostenets through asphalt road. A railway passes through the village. There are cafes, shops, community center “Hristo Botev” and church “Sv.Sv. Kiril i Metodii”.
A general practitioner serves the needs of the inhabitants of the village.
Main inhabitants are farmers and agrarians. Wheat and corn are grown mainly.

Tourism

In closeness are the West parts of the Rodopi Mountain that is an excellent opportunity for mountain and cultural tourism.
36 km away is Borovets resort and offers everything a perfect vacation needs: clean and fresh air, serene centuries-old pine forests, green meadows sprinkled with fragrant flowers and herbs, blue lakes and majestic snow-capped peaks. Six-seat gondola lift, 2 four-seat express lifts, 10 tow- lifts. For beginners or people who rarely ski, renting skis at the resort is preferable in most cases. For nature-lovers the resort is a favourite vacation spot and starting point of many hiking routs in the Rila Mountains. And when the sun has gone down, the resort begins to pulse with the numerous lights of the nightlife...
The town of Velingrad is around 50 km away with more than 200 000 visitors who come for the numerous mineral water springs, comfortable and modern baths, the soft climate and the wonderful nature of the town. The most precious natural treasure of the town of velingrad is the mineral water springs. The temperature of the springs varies from 280ºС up to 860ºС.
Also close is situated the town of Batak where you can go fishing, hunting and do all kind of tourism as well as winter and water sports.
60 km away is the year-round mountain resort Tsigov chark set on the territory of the Western Rodopi Mountain - south-east from the picturesque Batak Dam. Batak Dam waters offer unforgettable moments for fishing and water sports. Many chalets and hotels are at your service in the area if you want to relax in the beauty and fresh air of Rodopi Mountain.
