Erma reka is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Zlatograd Municipality, Smolyan region.

It is 16 km northwest from the town of Zlatograd, 54 km southeast from the town of Smolyan, about 25 km south from the town of Madan and 291 km southeast from the city of Sofia.

The village is near the border with Greece next to Makaza. The roads in the region are good and relatively new. There are regular bus services to neighboring towns.

Located in the valley of the eponymous river, at 781 m altitude. Climate is continental and is characterized by cool summer and mild winter.

The permanent population is about 930 people. Much of the labor force are employed in the mining industry. On the territory of the village are some of the largest lead-zinc deposits in the Balkans. In the valley of the river Erma are located mines: "Erma River", "Stefan Stefanov" and "Marzyan" that combine different localities in the region.

The village has a town hall, kindergarten, elementary school, community center, two shops and cafes. The medical service of the village is taken by a GP and a dentist. There is cable TV, Internet and mobile phone coverage. The nearest hospital is located in Zlatograd.

In the village of Erma River there are hot mineral spring, deep below the surface was discovered vast artesian lake in which the mineral water has a temperature of 96 ° C. It ranks among the top 6 in Europe. It can be used to treat various diseases. This makes the village a good place for development of spa tourism.

In its surroundings there are remains of a medieval church and monastery, which today give the name of the area "Cherkvata" and enable the development of cultural tourism.

Dam Zlatograd / 16 km / is a wonderful place for recreation, sports and fishing.

In Zlatograd you can visit the Ethnographic Area Complex - outdoor museum showing how the city looked like over 100 years ago. It is the only private area complex in Bulgaria.
