Elov dol is a village in West Bulgaria. It is situated in Botevgrad municipality, Sofia region.
In Bulgaria there is one other settlement that is with the same name in Zemen municipality, Pernik region.
It is 25 km north from the town of Botevgrad and 86 km northeast from the capital Sofia. The neighboring villages of Lipnitsa and Bozhenitsa are 4 km and km. The village of Novachene is 15 km southwest and the village of Litakovo is 22 km in the same direction.
It consists of neighborhoods that are spread in a mountain in the northern part of the Botevgrad hollow and its altitude is 495 m. The climate as in most of the hollow it is often severe with long winter and short spring that is cool and windy, the summer is hot and warm.
The permanent population is about 54 people.

South of the village of Bozhenitsa there are remains of medieval fortress "Bozhenishki Urvich" constructed during the V-th c. and destroyed in XIV c. The citadel can be reached only from the north. The archaeological excavations proved that the place has been inhabited since the prehistorical era and the first defense building dates back to V-VI c. The forest flourished in XIII-XIV c. when was constructed the outer wall. Recently the walls were partially renovated. The fortress is famous with the inscription from the time of the rule of king Ivan Shishman - "I, Dragomir, wrote. I, Sevast Ognyan was to king Shishman kefaliya and I found myself into big trouble. The river of Bebresh has formed gorgeous canyon in the rocks that is preferred place for the people that enjoy hiking.
The cavers will also be pleased for there are many different caves such as Vodnata pesht, Kozarnika, Suhata dupka near the village of Lipnitsa.
