Village of Elenska

Elenska is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Smolyan Municipality, Smolyan region.
It is 18 km northeast from the town of Smolyan, about 16 km northwest from the town of Madan, 35 km southeast from the resort Pamporovo and in the same direction 255 km from the capital Sofia city.
Regular bus service connects it with the town of Smolyan.
Located in the mountainous area at 717 m above sea level. The mountain climate is marked by influence of the Mediterranean. Winters are mild and snowy, summers are cool and wet, and the autumn - long and warm.
Its population is about 100 people.
Elenaska is situated in the land of the village of Taran / 3 km south /. It has a shop and cafe. In Taran there is a town hall, primary school, community center, kindergarten, shops, restaurants and a mosque. There you will find a health service with a doctor and a dentist. The nearest hospital is in the town of Smolyan.
Tourism and landmarks
4 km from Taran is siuated Momchilova fortress. At the top, at a rocky peak in the territory of the fortress are being studied Thracian sanctuary, dating from the late Chalcolithic - V thousand years BC, when people develop technique of the copper processing.
In the town of Madan can see the following landmarks: Cave-Museum Sharenka, area Gabata, rock Rimpapa, Kichikaya area.
In Smolyan village guests can visit: Smolyan History Museum - the oldest and largest in the Rhodope Mountains, Smolyan Planetarium, Rhodope Drama Theatre, "St. Vissarion", Monument of Orpheus and Eurydice, Rozhen Observatory.
