Dolno Kapinovo is a village in Southern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Kirkovo, Kardzhali region.

The village of Dolno Kapinovo is located on the northern side of the the Rhodope mountain, below the Veykata peak. On the south is Susur Kyoy, Greece, on the north is the village of Yakovitza, on the east is the village of Chakalarovo and on the southeast - Gorno Kapinovo. Dolno Kapinovo is 21 km away from Dzhebel, 52 km away from Kardzhali and 293 km away from the capital city Sofia.

Dolno Kapinovo's population is 324 people.

The climate is soft and warm. The average temperature in the winter is 0 C, and in the summer - 24 C.

The population's occupation is farming and livestock breeding. People are growing tobacco, potatoes, haricot and peppers. Wool breeding, goat breeding and cattle breeding are popular amongst the population.

Dolno Kapinovo has 6 neighborhoods. The two religions popular in this village, are islam and orthodox christianity.

The village is electrified and the roads leading to it are paved and maintained. The mobile operators provide good coverage. There is a library and a doctor, working in Dolno Kapinovo. Completely preserved and functioning is a bridge, built by some local stonework masters. The nearest hospital, post office and school are in Momchilgrad.

There is a tradition of sacrificial rite being followed every autumn (from October to the beginning of November), which supposely brings health to the village.

LANDMARKS AND TOURISM

3-4 hours away is the Veykata peak (or Karlak, as called by the elders) and the protected area "Gyumyurdzhinski snezhnik". The path to those places goes by the Karanska river. The protected area is a mountain area, covered in mesophytic forests, containing some natural endangered habitants. Gyumyurdzhinski snezhnik covers area of 1926,40 ha. It is the largest protected area in the Eastern Rhodope Mountains. It has been declared as one in order to preserve the venerable beeches and the endangered animal and flora species. Around here might be seen Golden eagle, brown bears and black woodpecker. There are 11 fauna and 5 animal species in this area, included in the Red Book of Bulgaria.
